Silhouette (2)

The Natural Light
The natural lights comprises of lights which have more bright qualities in it. Note that you cannot take a silhouette in the dark it works with light.
The day light and the sunset are the best lights which could be used in achieving silhouettes.
In using the perfect daylight, the light must travel through a tunnel of which your created image is within the tunnel, thus permitting light to bounce from behind and you shoot at the direction of the light.

The Sunset light which is a more golden kind of light is mostly found in the evening. This forms in ripples of colors which forms patterns. One of the advantages of the sunset light is the ability to take a silhouette without a cover over the image. But on this note, the camera settings will need to be adjusted to get the dark feel a normal silhouette should possess.

Camera Light setting for Silhouette
In the camera, in other for you to create a magnificent and spectacular silhouette, you will need to have the right light setting.
The two magic wands a photographer is concerned with on the camera which helps in the lighting modification is Shutter Speed and the Aperture.  Due to the fact that what we are concerned with is the dark feel of the picture, we would need to increase the Shutter speed setting and also aperture.
The Shutter speed should be set to 1/1600 and for deeper feel to the picture; the aperture should be adjusted to f9. At this level, it is believed that the thickness of the dark feel is complete. But you must have to look out for your background detail.

The Shutter Speed
In shooting a silhouette, there are 2 major rules to be noted
1.       The Rule of Time (Light)
2.       The Rule of Time (speed)

It was sunset, I had just thought of leaving my friend’s house, I discovered the golden sun had just appeared and it is getting ready to take it 10-20 minutes blink. It was not farfetched that I could make use of the opportunity. With the perfect lights I had a thought in my sub conscious that I would nail the shoot.
The rule of time as regards light on your shutter speed, works with sharp light in relative comparison with dark objects.
The shutter speed comprises of range of number which appears in a share rather call it a fraction. The least shutter speed is the bulb which makes an image with about 7-8 seconds. The advantage of the bulb is that it creates artificial luminosity and also good for artistic feels especially light flares and art feels.
For the bulb, it has no importance to the creation of silhouettes on the contrary, it adds more light to the imager therefore its importance is not felt in the piece of photography.

While working during the day, the perfect shutter speeds to engage are the 1/2000, 1/2500 and 1/4000 and the most preferred speed setting for daylight is the 1/4000.

When sunset appears the best shutter speed timing to produce effects is the 1/2500 and above. You must be careful to take note of details in the sunset lighting you must avoid the loss of taste. Any mistake you might end up darkening both the object and the light detail.

Rule of time as regards speed, is simple and correlates with the timing for light. The only slight here is that anything regards speed is about the thematic expression. If your theme has to do with speed e.g

Jumping, flying, shooting, your shutter speed will also have to be in a very fast mode.
